Calibration of a total strain crack model for adobe masonry based on compression and diagonal compression tests

Although it has good compressive behavior, adobe masonry is classified as a quasi-brittle material mainly due to its relative low tensile strength and softening behavior after the peak strength. The plus high variability in mechanical properties, makes difficult evaluate performance of entire buildings. For such purpose, development reliable computationally efficient numerical approaches required. This work shows methodology calibrate main parameters be used modeling samples following finite element method (FEM) by using Total-Strain Crack model. present paper that this model able represent nonlinear masonry. calibration process based on preliminary experimental tests performed prisms (piles wallets) subjected axial diagonal compression loads, respectively. results show possible practice.
